The idea of Marriage

Tex and Arrow had followed the crowed, hushed voices following behind a seemingly bubbly and excitable Waterdog named Marina. Water splashing as many tried to keep up and the sound of sushing can be heard as others tried to keep the group quiet.

Tex was unsure why he and his partner decided to tag along, perhaps it was the way so many of them had suddenly appeared that it felt almost wrong not to follow. His eyes would travel back to Arrow, making sure that she was okay by wrapping his tail around Her to keep him close.

As they neared an opening, they saw where Marina was heading and soon Roxanne would appear too. There was excitement that bustled through the group like a wave from the ocean and everyone began to hide. So, Tex and Arrow followed suit and would crouch together beneath a bush and watched until the big moment was revealed.

---

The setting sun looked a little more beautiful that night in Tex's mind as he and Arrow slowly made their way home. The scene replayed over and over inside his head, the look on Roxanne and Marina's faces. The love that radiated off of both dogs was almost infectious, reminding him of the love he had for his darling Arrow. As the silence lulled on between them as it normally did, Tex would finally decide To break it.

“So, what did you think about that proposal?” His question was simple and straightforward.

“Between Marina and Roxanne? I think it was a perfect representation of the kind of couple they are. A grand gesture made to each other, but meant to be celebrated with everyone. I thought it was perfect for them, but in my opinion there were too many on lookers,” she'd smile sheepishly, he was never one for crowded spaces or to be set as the center of attention. Until today in fact, she'd never even considered the idea of marriage being anything more than a distant and faroff idea.

Tex would let silence fall between them again as they walked, a silent ponder on his face like always. Eventually he'd pipe up again, “Yea it was perfect for them… but I think what we have is just as perfect too.” his throat would rumble deep as a purr erupted from him as he looked lovingly at his partner.

Arrow in turn would purr lightly and respond, “Yea, I think its pretty perfect too. I appreciate you and everything you do Tex. I couldn't ask for a better partner to be with!” She nuzzles him close, one of the rare times she shows physical affection. As quickly as it happened it was over and she was back to her normal jaunt next to Tex.

Tex knew Arrows stance on getting married, and it wasn't something she thought about often or maybe even at all. But one day Tex plans to ask the big question too, but he'd wait until Arrow was ready. His tail would wrap around hers and they'd press up against eachother as they continued their walk home. Purring in their perfect silence, living in what was their perfect moment.
