WATERDOG WINTER ADVENT 2024

Winter is almost here and with that comes the annual Waterdog Winter Advent Calendar!!

This event starts the 1st of December and runs until the end of the month, Decemeber 31st.

Everyday has a different theme which will have a design drawn by either a staff or guest artist to be delievered to whoever claims that theme on that day of the month!

SLOTS are open for claims!

ADVENT RULES & REGULATIONS

Payment will be determined by each artist. You must pay within 48 hours of claiming unless discussed otherwise with your artist.
If you claim a day, you will be messaged privately (likely through Discord) on that day with the design. All designs will be automatically uploaded by the staff so you don't have to worry about sending them in for upload!
You may not claim more than one day, unless all days do not sell out after 24hrs of opening.
You cannot edit your claim comment, once you submit a comment we will go with what you first selected. If you edit your comment, it will no longer be a valid claim.
You cannot claim days for friends or other users, everyone must claim their own days.
You cannot add on extra days to your comment if you did not get what you tried claiming (ex: "I'll take day 25, if not I'll take 4, 14, 20, or 24." Please make a new comment entirely.
You may only post a maximum of 4 claim comments total. Do not spam-comment to try and select as many back-up days as possible.

Just as a reminder from our last newspost, tide pool prompt submissions will be effectively closed for the month of December.

We will still be allowing characters to be surrendered, however. Prompt submissions will re-open on January 1st!

Secret Santa + Tide Pool Announcement

Hello everyone!

We have a couple announcements to go over with you guys today, specifically Secret Santa as well as we will be closing down the tide pool shop for the month of December. While we know this isn't desirable to hear so soon to the end of the month, regarding the tide pool, but we will be closing it down just a few reasons

Giving our team a small break for the holiday season.
We'll be looking into new features and QOL additions for the website that we'll apply when we can.
We are looking into restructuring the shop, and the starfish currency (new ways to use it) and will be opening up a community discussion with some of our thoughts and ideas- and we want to hear your thoughts and opinions! We'll be opening a suggestion thread in the discord, as well as an anonymous google form for anybody who's more comfortable with that.

WHAT IS SECRET SANTA?

Secret Santa is a fun event where we anonymously exchange art pieces! Each member who wishes to enter will be assigned another member to create an art piece for! The identity of the gift giver is secret, and won't be revealed until the gift has been given. For our Waterdog specific event, you'll be assigned another Waterdog owner, and you'll have a few weeks to create an art piece of one of their Waterdog/Watercat characters!

GENERAL RULES
- Only official Waterdogs/cats can be entered for the event. This means they must have a masterlist entry on-site to be valid!
- Don't spoil the surprise! Keep your identity a secret to the person you're drawing for.
- Once you enter the Secret Santa, you cannot back out (except for very special circumstances.)
- All art must be completed and gifted by January 1st.
Please let us know AS SOON AS POSSIBLE if you need to drop out of the event due to an emergency so we can have someone fill in for you.
Note that this is only in the event of an emergency - if you do not tell us or drop out for reasons that do not qualify as an emergency, then you will be blacklisted from entering future events on the website.

HOW TO ENTER

Please enter using the Google form above. Your submission will be logged and entered into a spreadsheet which will become accessible by the community after entries close.

You can also check yes or no for whether or not you'd like to be a backup artist! We'll be compiling a list of backup artists and randomly assigning them via DMs to anyone who did not receive an art piece by the deadline (December 31st.)

Once entries close on December 1st, we will randomly assign you a community member to draw for, and you will receive a DM on Discord (or on here, in the case you do not have a discord account) with their username and a link to their character(s). Please be patient with us, this may take some time!

REQUIREMENTS FOR ART PIECES

Your gift art must follow these general guidelines
- It should at minimum be one clean art piece with clear effort
- Your piece must be decently lined and coloured
- Traditional and digital art are both allowed
- Backgrounds are not required
We strongly recommend that you draw a complete fullbody. The less of the body you draw, the more detailed the rest of your piece should be!

You are more than welcome to draw more little pieces for your community member, just make sure that you have one piece that explicitly fits the requirements above to be given as a main gift!

ART SUBMISSIONS

Once you have completed your gift, please send Waterdoge a DM on Discord with your piece (or your main piece if you have/plan on doing multiple!) We won't be uploading it for you, this is just so we can record your gift as done.

If you finish before Christmas (December 25th) DO NOT share your art piece! Once your art piece is finished, hold on to it and just DM us with your art. On Christmas Day, you may start posting your art! All art pieces must be posted or sent to their owner by 11:59 CST on December 31st, 2024. There will be a new gallery to share your gifts in here on the website named Secret Santa 2024 which will become available on the 25th.

Secret Santa gifts will be given an SD bonus! Your main art piece will be given a flat bonus of 300 SD on top of however much you gain on submitting it to the bank. Any extra gifts you make for your gift receiver will earn an extra 100 SD!
NOTE: You will only be able to redeem your SD (and the bonus) for Secret Santa gifts through a special prompt on the website that will open up on the 25th of December. The first piece of art you submit will gain the 300 SD bonus, all other submissions you make after that will receive 100!

**Please don't try to scrape together something quick on the last day. We want this to be special for EVERYONE participating, and that means putting thought and effort into your art. Anyone who does not complete their art piece will likely be blacklisted from similar events in the future, without prior communication to the staff team.

BACKUP SANTAS

If you submitted your entry form with the offer to become a backup artist if necessary, we thank you very much!!
Hopefully, we won't need to contact you - if you don't hear from us, don't worry, no news is good news in this case. If we do require a backup artist, we'll DM you with the extra details after the initial deadline passes by. We can't have anyone going giftless this holiday season, can we?

Tide Pool Updates

Hello everyone, some more lil tidepool quality of life updates for you!

We have coded in:

- A check to prevent co-owned designs from being surrendered, so long as they're connected via the site co-own feature.
- A check to make sure users can't purchase their own surrenders, or tidepool designs created via the prompt. (You can still purchase designs you made/previously owned, as long as they were not submitted to the shop by you.)
- A counter to make sure surrendered designs have been owned for at least 30 days before surrendering. Surrenders will now automatically send an error message if this criteria has not been met.

We hope this makes your tidepool-ing experiences easier, and feel free to reach out if there's any issues with the code!

Hey everyone!
We know it's late, but we have a very important announcement to make regarding the tide pool and some updates for it.
Recently, I had commissioned a custom code for the shop, placing some limits onto it. This includes

- A monthly purchase limit per user. Users can purchase 3 characters each month from The Tide Pool. This number should reset on the 1st of each month.
- Custom cooldown for the shop, characters adopted will now have a 30 day cooldown placed on them. This will prevent them from being sold or traded to other users.
(Users can still purchase a design as a gift for somebody else, and just submit a report or a ticket to have them transferred by a mod. This will still use one of your purchase slots for the month, however, for the user who purchased it!)
- You will not be able to surrender designs that you have owned for under 30 days.

We hope these changes will encourage everyone to think if they truly want a design before purchasing, and allow for more people to be able to use and interact with the shop.
We understand this might be upsetting for some, but ultimately this feels like a step in the right direction upon fixing a lot of the current issues within the shop.

Hello lovelies!! As winter approaches, we'd like to open up Guest Artist opportunites for our winter advent: A month long adopt event where users can claim a day in Decemeber based on the theme and artist to have a unique themed design delivered by that artist on the day they claimed!

This will be a paid opportunity, with the lowest tiers starting at 35$ and increasing based on species and rarity which artists will be allowed to pick based on available slots as well as decide their own theme if there isn't one already too similar.

Artists will be decided via a site raffle to give everyone an equal opportunity and we'll be looking to have around 10-15 artists winners on availability.

November '24 Newsletter

As our Halloween event has come to an end, we’d like to thank everyone for joining us. This event has brought some new traits, and we hope y’all are as excited as us to see more of them in the future.

With the end of the event, this is the final call for the shop before closing tomorrow. As a reminder, remember to use up your gummysharks. Any remainder gummysharks will be converted to SD after the closure of the event shop.

Halloween '24 Event Shop OPEN (+info)

Halloween event shop now live!!

All raffles will be rolled on Halloween Day, and will be done via livestream with an hour heads up posted.
This shop will be open from Monday, October 28th until Saturday, November 2nd @ 11:59pm CST.

NOTE: ALL GUMMY SHARKS WILL BE REMOVED FROM YOUR ACCOUNT AFTER THE SHOP HAS OFFICIALLY CLOSED, AND WILL BE converteD INTO SAND DOLLARS INSTEAD.

We apologize for any upset this causes- we want all users to be on the same page and have a clean slate during events so nobody has an unfair advantage currency-wise over anybody else during events from previous years.
