What are Breeding Batches?

Waterdog breeding batches are monthly commission slots that open on the 1st of the month at a random time. One of our participating staff will be randomly assigned to you and your batch if you claim a spot.
When breedings open for the month: you can chose a pair of your own Waterdogs, Watercats, or Big Cat Watercats for us to be able to create a design batch based on the two presented parent designs.
There will be 3 to 5 designs total created from the parents, upon artist's descrition (you cannot choose the amount you get!) When the designs are done, you will be allowed to choose and purchase a maximum of 2 of the designs, depending on how many you filled out the form for initially- if you'd like to pre-AB any others you can ask your artist.
Additional items like the 'Trait Charm' can be added onto batches as well [see below for more info.]
Any pair of Waterdogs/Watercats/Big Cat Watercats can breed, regardless of gender! Waterdogs and Watercats/Big cats cannot interbreed without the use of a Mixed Species Voucher. (The only exception to this are the special Valentines Day Breeding Batches!) You can purchase a Trait Charm for your batches to include 3 Rare traits, a 25% chance for a legendary trait, and colors that the parents don't normally have! [NOTE: The trait charm does NOT include Mythical Traits!]
Additional Breeding Information
You may claim a slot by yourself or pair up with a friend or friendly stranger to participate in a batch commission! You and your chosen partner are responsible for claiming a slot for yourselves. We do not allow anyone else outside of the participating pair to hold or claim a slot for each other. Mod made breedings do not count towards the limited amount of self-breed slots that your WD has!Waterdog breeding batches are non-canon. This means none of our breeding batches are required to be related or seen as related if the owner of said design/s does not wish them to. It's totally up to the individuals who end up with the designs on how their waterdogs relate, or where they are in their universes! ** Regardless of our non-canon disclaimer, we will not knowingly pair two designs that have come from the same breeding batches to avoid too similar batch designs or a conflict of interest with our community! All we ask is for our members to be respectful of others' decisions to separate their design from the breeding batch it originated from, as everyone is free to build upon their characters and their stories the way they want!

Please do not buy if you are unsure if you want a slot! By purchasing a slot you are agreeing to our policy of no refunds. Our only exception is if the artist cannot complete your batch- which must be discussed between you and your artist, or you and one of our Admins.
How much are batches?
All batches have a base price of $45 per child, upon the intial purchase, regardless of species and rarity.
Any non-claimed designs will go up for auction and prices at the artist's choosing.
Our artists take USD and our primary payment method is PayPal, but some may accept other platforms such as Cashapp or Venmo. We encourage you to ask your assigned artist, or to check the notes in the breeding announcement journal to see who may be accepting other payment methods!
How often are breeding batches & how do I participate?
Breeding Batches are done monthly, or when our team is available!
Sometimes we have to skip breeding batches in favor of working on upcoming events OR when we are unavailable to take more batches by the next monthly rollover. However, we do our best to allow all staff members to participate in breeding batches to fulfill the demand for it regardless of staff position!
When we have openings, there will be a news post here onsite where the slots can be claimed on the 1st of the month. A 'breeding' announcement ping is used in our Discord Server to let users know a few hours before the opening is posted. (This can be added to yourself by joining the server and heading to the #reaction-roles channel!)
There is no set time as to when the slots will open, but it will always be on the 1st of the month unless specified otherwise.
Typically there will be a total of 5-ish open breeding slots available, x1 Pay-when-you-win Raffle slot, x1 First Time Participant slot, and x3 First Come First Serve slots.
The FCFS slots are the ones to fluctuate on the amount of open slots when a team member is unable to participate, or if we have a guest artist!
Fun Fact!
** July and December are the only times we do not hold breeding batches, so the team can focus on art fight in the summer, and the advent calendar during winter.**
What should I expect IF I get a batch?
You will be assigned a random artist from our staff who is participating in designing this round of batches. A list is presented on the news post as to is participating in that round! Your batch will consist of 3 to 5 unique designs loosely based on the provided parents.
If you feel there is too close a similarity in designs, please do not hesitate to speak up about it! Our goal is to present unique designs and not direct copies of the parents. However, please keep in mind they still will have some sort of resemblance!
Each slot is a litter and can produce up to 3-5 Waterpups, Waterkits, or Watercubs depending on the artist.
You can claim up to two designs at the base price of $45 each! The selected breeding pair cannot be changed if the artist has already sketched out the concepts. If you have changes you want made, please discuss this with your assigned artist as soon as possible, as we will not accommodate changes after the sketched stage! Waterdog breeding batches are non-customizable! Most of the choices will be up to the artist, however, you can specify some things you do not want in the designs: especially if you opt into using a Trait Charm! There is no guarantee that every trait the parents have will pass on to every puppy/kitten/cub. It is up to the artists interpretation as to which traits will be added to which design!
We may refuse repetitive breedings from the same pairings if the designing options are deemed are limited.
Parents CANNOT claim a design in place of other people not participating in the batch. Both during the pre-claim and pre-AB stages. Anyone caught doing this will receive a temporary or, if repetitive, permanent ban from breedings.
We have the right to refuse your breeding claim if your behaviour and/or actions have been highly disrespectful before, during, or after your breeding claim. Artists also retain the right to deny a breeding if they are uncomfortable with the user who is requesting the breeding.
Similarly, if there is an artist that you are uncomfortable with doing your breeding, feel free to DM another admin or moderator, and we will make sure you don't get assigned them in any batches.
Anyone who is caught abusing this system and falsely claiming to be uncomfortable with an artist because you don't like their style, their designs, or to otherwise try to get an artist that you prefer will result in a warning. If this behavior continues to occur, then you will be permanently banned from taking part in breedings for the unforeseeable future.
