Dean's Cat Adventure

As the purple smoke cleared, Dean let out a cough, shaking his head to try and clear his head before glancing around frantically, trying to assess the situation.

“Did he say something?” Dean called out, letting out another cough. “Spencer, I know you’re there, please tell me you heard what he said.”

Spencer was standing behind his brother, trying to hold in his laughter. “Hmm? Oh yeah, he said something about a species potion?”

“A WHAT NOW?” Dean whirled around to face the strange potion merchant. “But I thought-”

“You weren’t listening to me,” the Maine Coon shook his head, padding over to Dean to get a good look at his transformation. He hadn’t really gotten a good chance to look at it himself in the confusion, so he glanced down to see what the cat before him saw, and let out a gasp.

YOU TURNED ME INTO A CAT?”

The other cat took a moment to respond, staring at him blankly, almost as if for comedic effect. He then sighed, “As I was saying, you weren’t listening to me. I was trying to show you where the good potions were, but you just grabbed one at random as soon as I started speaking!”

“He isn’t usually like this,” Spencer finally spoke up, causing Dean to roll his eyes. His brother was definitely enjoying this whole situation and wasn’t actually interested in trying to help him find a solution. “To be honest, I’m surprised he grabbed the potion before I did.”

“At least I would still be panicking trying to find a way to fix it,” Dean muttered. “You find this whole thing hilarious.

“I have to admit, it kind of is,” the cat purred with laughter. “Besides, everything I make wears off eventually, they’re supposed to be harmless pranks.”

“So, how long does it last?” Spencer asked, walking up to the cat so he was now side by side with Dean, who was lashing his tail, annoyed.

“Only about twenty four hours,” the merchant assured him. “By this time tomorrow, he’ll be his usual dog-self again.”

“See? You have nothing to worry about,” Spencer told his brother, glancing over his shoulder. “Hey look, there’s Mirri! We should go show them what happened!” Before waiting on an answer, he bounced off in the opposite direction, leaving Dean alone with the strange merchant.

With a sigh, Dean turned to follow his younger brother. “Sorry about this, by the way.”

“It’s alright,” the other cat shrugged. “You aren’t the first creature this has happened to.”

Dean followed after Spencer, meeting up with him and Mirri, a calico cat with green and yellow water and multiple pairs of wings. As he approached, they raised an eyebrow at him. “A species potion, huh?”

Dean nodded with a sigh. “The merchant said I’ll be stuck like this for a whole day.”

Spencer nodded excitedly. “I get to have a cat brother for twenty four hours!”

Dean glanced over at his brother in surprise. “You’re excited about this?”

“Well of course! Think of all of the fun things that we could do now with how flexible you are!”

Or you could come with me to go take a nap with me in the sun before it sets.” Mirri offered.

“That sounds nice actually, may I?”

“Can I come too?” Spencer turned to Mirri, pleading.

“Of course,” Mirri chuckled. “Come on you too.”

Mirri turned and led the two away from the merchant, becoming Dean’s cat guide for the day.
