Plan In Action
Marina shivered as she drank the potion. It was delicious! But it made her feel like she had goosebumps, for some reason... strange. Not the weirdest thing she'd ever drank, though! In her mind, it was simply a delicious treat. But...
"Woah, hang on! Marina, what's going on?!"
"Huh?" Marina tilted her head to the side as she set the glass back down on the table. She was just enjoying a treat! Why was Roxanne so surprised? "What's the matter?"
"You're- oh, no..." Roxanne asked, frowning a little as bite tried to consider the easiest way to let Marina know of her new predicament. "I think I get why that potion had hairballs as a side effect..."
Marina frowned, scrunching up her face a little as she did. "Okay... can you just tell me what's going on? Is it really that bad?"
"Not bad, just... different?"
Roxanne looked around the shop quickly, trying to find something bite could use to show Marina what was going on. Eventually, bite found a funhouse mirror - not the best item to use in this situation, but it would work for now.
"Here - look," bite said, holding the mirror up to bite's fiance.
Marina's eyes widened as she leaned forward, looking into the mirror. And then... she laughed.
"Oh, that's a funny mirror!" She giggled, "it almost makes it look like I'm a-"
Then it hit her.
"...A cat?" She said, a hint of doubt finding its way into her voice.
"Mmmhm," Roxanne said, gritting bite's teeth together. "And I'm pretty sure that an antidote isn't in this shop... you didn't even pay for that before drinking it, you know."
"I was planning on paying for it after making sure it worked..." Marina mumbled, fussing with her paws awkwardly a little. "You don't think they accept refunds? I mean. Not that I can give it back, or anything... could we argue that the potion didn't do what was advertised?"
"I mean... how's your night vision?" Roxanne asked, surprisingly calm for the situation.
"...Really good," Marina said, her ears drooping. "Yeah. I guess that won't work..."
"Here. Someone's gotta be able to get an antidote - either we can buy it up front when we pay for this potion, or we'll go and find someone who's got one," Roxanne said, holding a paw up to bite's chin. "I've heard that at the very least, there's potions that can turn a watercat into a waterdog... so since you're a watercat now, if we got one of those, then you'd become a waterdog again. Right?"
"Would it really work like that...?" Marina asked, putting a paw up to her own chin, mirroring her fiance's action. "Or would it not work because I was originally a waterdog? Or maybe this potion is temporary, and will wear off if we just wait long enough...?"
"Only one way to find out!" Roxanne announced, bite's tail wagging back and forth with confidence. "I'll go pay for that potion you just drank, and ask the shopkeep about any kind of antidote. In the meantime, you go and see if it wears off on its own, or if there's any other ways we can reverse this!"
Marina nodded, smiling wide as her tail wagged in turn. "Okay!"
Now with a plan, the two split up, ready to search for clues...
If I got the grammar of Roxanne's bite/bites pronouns wrong. No I didn't
