what are monthly prompts?

Each month of the year, we will have a new themed prompt that you can participate in to earn some bonus SD. This bonus will be added onto whatever you earned as a base price for redeeming your art. Please make sure to read through all of the rules before you begin the prompt!

The current monthly prompt can be found [HERE]. Prompts from previous months will not be visible on the site after the month has ended, but can be viewed on the discord server.

Rules:

  • You may only redeem one piece of art per prompt. You are more than welcome to create multiple art pieces for one prompt, but only one of them can be submitted for the SD bonus. You can also complete prompts from previous months, but these will not give you any bonus SD!
  • You do not need a waterdog to draw for the prompt. You can ask to borrow waterdogs for the prompt in the requests channel on discord, or you can use the waterdog mascot Marina. In addition, you can search use waterdogs that are open for gift art -- they are listed [here],
  • All art for the prompts must be created by you. You cannot use bases or collaborate on art pieces (unless a specific prompt specifies otherwise).
  • You can use ANY medium to create artwork - traditional or digital! It's up to you how much you draw, but we do require a colored sketch as the bare minimum, unless stated otherwise. Just keep in mind that whatever you create must be clearly recognizable as fulfilling the prompt. Anything less than a colored sketch may not qualify for the SD bonus.
  • You have until the end of the month at 11:59 PM CST to complete your prompt. The deadline for each prompt will be specified in the prompt itself just in case you forget!
  • Have fun and be creative! These prompts are meant to challenge you and you are encouraged to think outside of the box and create something you are truly proud of! You can post completed prompts in #gallery for everyone else to see!
Reminder: Your art will only count towards the prompts if it includes waterdog/watercat characters! You are welcome to include non-species characters but the main focus of your piece needs to be a character within the species.

Reminder: You are not required to complete every monthly prompt! You can complete whichever ones seem to interest you, and you are more than welcome to skip months you don't wish to do. Just remember, you can only get the SD bonus for the current prompt of the month.

How to submit:

  1. Navigate to the current month's prompt page. Monthly prompts can be found [here]. You can click on 'Show details' to view more about the prompt requirements for the current month.
  2. Complete the prompt, making sure to fulfill the requirements. Any prompts that do not fulfill the requirements will not be eligible to earn the SD bonus!
  3. Click 'Submit prompt' and paste a link to your image in the 'Submission URL' box. We only accept links to art uploaded to Sta.sh, DeviantART or one of WaterdogWorld's galleries.
  4. Include the art tier in the 'Comments' box. For example, if you've drawn three chibis with a pattern background, please include this so we can properly price your art.
  5. Add the masterlists of ALL of the characters featured in your art piece. This can be done simply by copying the character code (such as CAP-0001) and pasting it in the "Characters" section.  If your art features more than one character, simply click the "Add Character" button.
  6. Click 'Submit.' You do not need to add any rewards to your submission. The base reward says 100 Sand Dollars, but we will customize your total reward to fit how much you've earned from the art itself, not just the bonus. Do not try calculating the Sand Dollars yourself, you may get more or less than you thought!

Once your prompt has been submitted, a staff member will go through and approve/deny your submission. If any of the above parts are missing, your submission will be denied and you'll need to resubmit it.
