Hello Waterdog community. 

A lot of changes have happened within these last few days in the Discord, and as a result with the species, and we would like to update everyone on these changes and the future of Waterdogs heading forwards. 

Firstly, our species owner, Chewtoys, has stepped down from his position. The former species owner and species creator, Piper/Captyns, has returned temporarily to this role while we establish a new leadership system.

To summarize why this change has happened so suddenly, Chewtoys made very extreme and insensitive claims while refusing to do a charity auction for Palestine in our Discord server, amongst other alarming past behaviors being brought to light. This decision was by no means unanimous and a lot of staff greatly opposed it. In addition, a lot of staff resigned due to his treatment of the team and information about Chewtoys letting dangerous groomers stay in the server because of personal friendship and him just blatantly ignoring proof of these people’s harm also came to light. Due to this, all of the staff and the server found him unfit for leadership and demanded his resignation, which he eventually complied with. 

Right now, we are trying to recover from Chewtoys’ leadership. We’re working on banning these dangerous users, fixing the masterlist, recovering documents and staff records he deleted, etc. We are also trying to establish a new leadership system that creates a system of checks and balances to keep any future leaders from abusing their power like he did.

Waterdogs does and has always stood with humanitarian causes and we will be doing charity events all through April to help raise money for Palestine, including opening a month-long item shop, an auction, hosting charity streams, and more so please keep an eye out for another announcement regarding this soon.

Overall, staff would like to apologize for all the harm caused and assure the community that we are working harder than ever to make things better. Trust will take time to rebuild but we want this community to be safe and welcoming for everyone and it is no place for those who harm others. We hope that you will stick around as we navigate through these changes and please don’t hesitate to reach out if you have any concerns or suggestions for us going forwards.
