Waterdog Winter Advent 2022

slots are now open to claim!

It's that time of year again! We are excited to announce that we'll be hosting the Waterdog Winter Advent on the site this year! The Advent will start on the 1st of December and it will run until Christmas, the 25th of December. Each day will have a different theme and the staff member designated to that day will create an awesome design based on the theme!

Slots will be up for grabs on November 28th at 4pm CST. 

Advent rules & regulations

• Payment will be through PayPal. You must pay within 48 hours of claiming unless discussed otherwise with your artist.
• If you claim a day, you will be messaged privately (likely through discord) on that day with the design. All designs will be automatically uploaded by the staff so you don't have to worry about sending them in for upload!
• You may not claim more than one day, unless all days do not sell out within 24h of opening. 
• You cannot edit your claim comment, once you submit a comment we will go with what you first selected. If you edit your comment, it will no longer be a valid claim.
• You cannot claim days for friends or other users, everyone must claim their own days.
• You cannot add on extra days to your comment if you did not get what you tried claiming  (ex: "I'll take day 25, if not I'll take 4, 14, 20, or 24." Please make a new comment entirely.
• You may only post a maximum of 4 claim comments total. Do not spam-comment to try and select as many back-up days as possible.

A comment will be made by a moderator when the claims open. Any comments made before this will not count for claims! Do not reply to the comment, make a separate comment for your claim. Any replies to the opening comment will not be counted either.

Waterdog Trait Changelog
Effective as of 12/13/2022

Big Cat Potions
-Big Cat Potions may be used on dogs.

Multiform limits
- Upon initial creation, you can have up to two forms on your WD. This only counts for self made multiform designs such as runestone upgrades.
- You can add forms through sand shop purchases / emporium purchases up to a total of four forms.
- Additional forms past four must be added through Tidal or Exclusive services.

Why we're making this change: We needed to set clear boundaries with what is allowed with multiform runestones and how many forms you can have on your design. There is no upper limit, but the maximum you may add on your own is up to four forms.

Bioluminescent Water
- Bioluminescent water has been upgraded to Super Rare.
- In turn, bioluminescent water can be turned "on" and "off" without any color changing or multiform traits in place.
- We will be going through the current designs that have bioluminescent water and updating them accordingly if they fit the current bioluminescent guidelines.

Bioluminescence can "turn" on and off in a glowing sense - for example in the dark, water (and/or eyes) will glow brightly and dim down during daytime without the need for the multiform trait. The colour of this must stay consistently the same - a blue bioluminescent water can't glow, say, white, without colour-changing water, but can be slightly brighter than the base colour would otherwise be while dim, or "turned off".

Over the past month or two we've been working on revamping our Sand Bank/Sand Dollar system and the reward amounts. From now on, we will be using this new system when we grade Sand Bank prompt submissions.

Welcome to the 2022 Waterdog Secret Santa Event!

We're kicking things off slightly early this year to try and give people plenty of time to really go ham this year - now that we have the website, we'd love to go all-out and let you guys have enough time to do so as well!

This event will run from 25th November 2022 to January 10th 2023.

What is Secret Santa?

Secret Santa is a fun event where we anonymously exchange art pieces! Each member who wishes to enter will be assigned another member to create an art piece for! The identity of the gift giver is secret, and won't be revealed until the gift has been given. For our Waterdog specific event, you'll be assigned another Waterdog owner, and you'll have a few weeks to create an art piece of one of their Waterdog/Watercat characters!

General Rules

• Only official Waterdogs/cats can be entered for the event. This means they must have a masterlist entry on-site to be valid!
• Don't spoil the surprise! Keep your identity a secret to the person you're drawing for.
• Once you enter the Secret Santa, you cannot back out.
• All art must be completed and gifted by January 10th.

Please let us know AS SOON AS POSSIBLE if you need to drop out of the event due to an emergency so we can have someone fill in for you. Note that this is only in the event of an emergency - if you do not tell us or drop out for reasons that do not qualify as an emergency then you will be blacklisted from entering future events on the website.

How to Enter

Please enter using the Google form above. Your submission will be logged and entered into a spreadsheet which will become accessible by the community after entries close.

You can also check yes or no for whether or not you'd like to be a backup artist! We'll be compiling a list of backup artists and randomly assigning them via DMs to anyone who did not receive an art piece by the deadline.

Once entries close on the 24th (we'll send out a ping on the Discord server about an hour before they close), we will randomly assign you a community member to draw for, and you will receive a DM on Discord from Waterdoge with their username and a link to their character(s). Please be patient with us, this may take some time!

Requirements for Art Pieces

Your gift art must follow these general guidelines.

• It should at minimum be one clean art piece with clear effort
• Your piece must be decently lined and coloured
• Traditional and digital art are both allowed
• Backgrounds are not required

We strongly recommend that you draw a complete fullbody. The less of the body you draw, the more detailed the rest of your piece should be!

You are more than welcome to draw more little pieces for your community member, just make sure that you have one piece that explicitly fits the requirements above to be given as a main gift!

Art Submissions

Once you have completed your gift, please send Waterdoge a DM on Discord with your piece (or your main piece if you have/plan on doing multiple)! We won't be uploading it for you, this is just so we can record your gift as done.

If you finish before Christmas (the 25th), DO NOT share your art piece! Once your art piece is finished, hold on to it and just DM us with your art. On Christmas Day, you may start posting your art! All art pieces must be posted or sent to their owner by 11:59 CST on January 10th, 2022. There will be a new gallery to share your gifts in here on the website named Secret Santa 2022 which will become available on the 25th.

Secret Santa gifts will be given an SD bonus! Your main art piece will be given a flat bonus of 100 SD on top of however much you gain on submitting it to the bank. Any extra gifts you make for your gift receiver will earn an extra 50 SD! NOTE: You will only be able to redeem your SD (and the bonus) for Secret Santa gifts through a special prompt on the website that will open up on the 25th of December. The first piece of art you submit will gain the 100 SD bonus, all other submissions you make after that will receive 50!

**Please don't try to scrape together something quick on the last day. We want this to be special for EVERYONE participating, and that means putting thought and effort into your art. Anyone who does not complete their art piece will likely be blacklisted from similar events in the future.

Backup Santas

If you submitted your entry form with the offer to become a backup artist if necessary, we thank you very much!! Hopefully, we won't need to contact you - if you don't hear from us, don't worry, no news is good news in this case. If we do require a backup artist, we'll DM you with the extra details after the initial deadline passes by. We can't have anyone going giftless this holiday season, can we?

Please do NOT purchase a ticket unless you are 100% sure you're okay will getting a randomly-rolled design. We will not be doing rerolls, and as a reminder, prize designs have a trade cooldown of 30 days/1 month instead of the normal 3 days!

Welcome to the third and last week of the 2022 Halloween event!

This week, we'll be hosting two drawing prompts! During this event, you'll be able to earn our new Halloween-specific currency, Candy Corn ( CC)! 

DRAWING PROMPT: Pumpkin Carving!

Pumpkin carving is possibly one of the most iconic Halloween festivities! Making a design, using the leftover pumpkin for a tasty pie... And then seeing it all lit up in the end! What's not to love?

★ Drawing requirements: 1 lined and colored drawing of a pumpkin carving with a Waterdog inspired design. You do not need to actually carve a pumpkin, but if you want to then that'll count too! If you'd like to draw it digitally, just draw a pumpkin with your design on it. These do not have to feature your Waterdogs specifically, but the design needs to have something to do with Waterdogs in general.

Drawing Prompt: Tricks & Treats

Gather your friends for a fun night out! For this prompt, you will be required to draw at least one friend's Waterdog with your own. Do they go trick-or-treating together? Or does your Waterdog prefer to trick their friends? Up to you, but make sure it fits in with the spooky season!

★ Drawing requirements: 1 lined and colored drawing of your Waterdog with a friend's Waterdog. You must have permission to use somebody else's Waterdog(s) for this prompt! This one is pretty open ended, so feel free to run with it! Have fun, be scary (or not), enjoy Halloween with a friend or two!
